The best rock climbing in Arequipa

by the Colca Specialist

Adventure is one of the favorites activities of the Colca Specialist. For that purpose the Colca Specialist booked the service with Sacred Road travel agency whose owner is the well-known Arcadio Mamani Viza. Arcadio is a professional mountainclimber and a rock climbing instructor.

He worked with Johan Reinhard from National Geographic among other personages of the world of archaeology.

I did Rock Climbing before with other companies, but Arcadio Mamani is totally different from the others. He puts emphasis in SAFETY. SAFETY is a word whose importance in Arcadio´s lexikon is translated into action all the time.

Arcadio is very patient with the clients and he is a great teacher. It was a real pleasure for me to do some canyoning and rock climbing with Arcadio, Juan and Johan.

The pictures were taken in the area of Calambucos which is close to Misti Volcano.

If you wish to contact Arcadio Mamani Viza you can visit his web page: http://www.sacredroad.com/

Ok my friends Kodak time and thank you for your kind attention!

Arcadio and his son Juan in Sacred Road Travel Agency. Behind them you can observe all the equipment they have which means that they are the real tour operators and not just another "intermediary" travel agency looking for a commission!

Juan posing for a picture in Calambucos area. The area is perfect for the practice of Rock Climbing and Canyoning in Arequipa!

Johan showing us his skills in Calambucos.

Arcadio Mamani Viza in action. If you check the cords in the picture,Arcadio is using two cords instead of one, SAFETY is very important for him!

This is one of my favorites.Arcadio Mamani Viza descending through a gorge carved during millions of years by water.

We spent the whole day having fun in Calambucos and enjoying Arcadio´s stories!

Spiderman??? No, it is Arcadio´son Juan who is showing us his climbing skills in this circuit which is called "Chocho Loco". There area different walls with different difficulty degrees according to the needs of their clients.

Thank you very much Arcadio for the great time I had in Calambucos and be sure I am going to take the same tour once more again!
